Sustainable development
Stockholm University of the Arts works with a broad approach to sustainability, which is based on and linked to the UN's international action plan for sustainable development, Agenda 2030. This encompasses, among other things, environmental and climate issues, issues of social sustainability including equal terms and widening participation, as well as issues of long-term sustainability and resilience in funding and human resources. A particular focus area is the impact on sustainability of our new joint building in Slakthusområdet.
Sustainable development has been incorporated into our strategic plan and our general and area-specific operational plans. We also have an environmental policy with specific goals, which is regularly updated with concrete action plans.
SKH's education and research pay attention to sustainability issues in various ways, and research results on sustainability are regularly used to improve and deepen the content of education. Sustainability aspects are systematically integrated into relevant updated curricula. In addition, when it comes to collaboration and cooperation projects, sustainability issues are a key part of our agenda. These include the interdisciplinary research hub NAVET and the international sustainable development research society, ISDRS, where SKH was one of the hosts of their annual conference in 2022.
From SKH’s strategic plan 2024–2027
We will [...] work towards sustainability, considering environmental, social and economic aspects.
