Application Fees and Tuition Fees
If you are a citizen of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland you do not have to pay an application fee or a tuition fee to SKH.
Are you a citizen of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland?
Citizens of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and the other EU and EEA countries (including Switzerland) do not have to pay an application fee when applying to SKH or a tuition fee if admitted.
If you are admitted to the university you need to read up on what applies to you regarding a residence permit.
As an EU or EEA citizen you must verify that you don’t have to pay a fee
If you are not a Swedish citizen you have to show that you are not required to pay an application fee or a tuition fee. You do this by uploading a photo or scan of your valid passport or your valid national identity card, on which your citizenship is stated, to accompany your application.
The categories of students who have to pay a fee
If you are not a citizen of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland you are required to pay an application fee (SEK 900). There are some exemptions for citizens of non-EU and non-EEA countries.
After Brexit, the exit of United Kingdom from the EU, special rules apply for some British citizens but the general rule is that as of January 1st 2021 British citizens are required to pay application and tuition fees for studies in Sweden.
Please note that we need to have received your payment by the last date of payment published on the web site for the education to be able to process your application.
If you are admitted to the university, you need to read up on what applies to you regarding a residence permit for studies. The procedure of receiving a residence permit for studies can take several months, so make sure to read up on the procedure and what applies to you ahead of time. How long the procedure takes varies with the complexity of the case as well as on whether the Migration authorities need further information from you.

Payment of application and tuition fees
Application fees are to be payed to the Swedish Council for Higher Education. Instructions are found here.
If you are admitted to a course or a programme at SKH and are obliged to pay a tuition fee, SKH must have received the payment for the tuition fee for the course or the first semester of the programme no later than on the date stated in your letter of acceptance. Otherwise your place on the course or programme will no longer be available.
Tuition fee scholarships
SKH has some possibilities of offering scholarships that cover the tuition fee. If you are obliged to pay a tuition fee and are admitted to a programme, you have a chance to receive the scholarship. Please note that you need to pay an application fee of 900 SEK (Swedish kronor), which must be payed by the last date of payment published on the web site for the education in order for your application to be processed. The application fee is non-refundable.
The scholarship only covers the tuition fee, and SKH does not have any scholarships that cover living costs during studies.
