Master's Programme in Film and Media - Film Editing
A film editor works on the selection and joining of the recorded film material. It is in the editing that the final film story is formed and primarily film editing is about storytelling: about describing environments, people and their emotions. You should be able to both immerse yourself in what is told and critically assess the recorded material and have the ability to keep the film's story together through all the choices. The film editor's profession is highly creative and requires artistic sensibility and analytical sharpness, as well as musicality, a feeling for rhythm and sound and image flow.
A film editor also needs good collaborative skills and works for example closely with the film's director and producer. The workplace can be a TV or film production company.
