”Studies on Fantasmical Anatomies” by Anne Juren
Goal & purpose
The goal of the research is to investigate different choreographic strategies and body practices related to text and to experiment with the relation between poetry, writing and choreography.
The purpose of the project is to expand the contextual boundaries of the term choreography by proposing an introspective journey through executing the private towards a public body. While doing that, the correspondence of the imaginative potential of language and an actual or a pictured movement is explored.
Research questions
What does the immersion of the text into the body tell the spectator about our historical actuality and about our cultural and social context?
Which kind of relationship does this method of embodiment create between the dancer and the spectator?
Where and what are the border of a body? How far can I go with the immersion into this body and the transformation of it?
This is how the research will be carried out
The idea that embodiment might be a fundamental feature of thinking is central for this research project. The particularity of such a process is to figure out how the text creates and affects the body. The process therefore essentially oscillates between reading text, writing text and the embodiment of text into the body itself.
Schedule
The project is scheduled to conclude in 2020.
Final presentation
The report of the project will be integrated in the body itself, inCORPorating the choreography into the body, transforming the words and the movements into sensations. The project will also be presented in written form and through public seminars.
Dissemination of research findings
In this project, the only possible way to disseminate the research findings would be to experience them. It’s also about an exchange and a meeting between two bodies: mine and the one of the receiver. The people, who will get the choreography inside their body, will be part of the project; they will embody it.
