What do you teach at SKH?
– I teach Performing Arts and the subject Lighting design.
Would you like to tell us something that you would like to emphasise within your field?
– Light is essential in our lives, both in the ordinary and the extraordinary. The work of a lighting designer is both aesthetic and dramaturgical. To put it simply, lighting design for the stage is like combining the functions of the cinematographer and the editor in filmmaking. On stage, light can fulfil a number of functions. It can create space, convey time, set rhythm, move focus and act as a link between other expressions on stage. The work is very collaborative and as a lighting designer you are dependent on the work of other artists, while being crucial to the audience's experience.
