Giuseppina Penta

I teach Italian lyrical diction and opera libretti for the bachelor's programme and am part of the teaching team that together teaches and supervises projects and productions. I also hold open lectures for bachelor and master students.

In my role as a teacher, it is important to me that my students continue to develop and deepen their knowledge of the world. It is important to me that the programme is inclusive, equal and of good quality and that our performances reflect modern values and appeal to people from different backgrounds.

As a teacher, I encourage students to carefully analyse the text to be performed: the understanding of language has a fundamental and important function in characterisation. Students practise with me reading the libretto, formulating the content of the text and reflecting on the character's emotional state.

By mixing individual and group lessons, I want to encourage students to develop their personal skills and abilities while deepening their skills during collective creative processes.

In addition to my part-time position at SKH, I work at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm where I am a language and performance coach.
