John-Paul Zaccarini's research project FutureBrownSpace, founded by The Swedish Research Council, uses methods from the theoretical tradition of Black Study to develop pedagogical and artistic tools to empower non-white people's creativity. As a visible minority in Sweden, one often experiences minority stress, unconscious racism, and being constantly forced to defend oneself. What tools and ways of thinking could be used to create a place where artists who do not belong to the white Swedish majority can be empowered, feel better, feel heard and learn from each other?

The AfroStar Galactica – Interactive performance lecture

As the V.R. project FutureBrownSpace comes to a close, we announce the last call for boarding on the research vessel the AfroStar Galactica. As we exit this atmosphere we look back at Season of Black Study One and Two (much?) with 12 and 24 black and brown artists, scholars, activists and healers at the Wednesday Seminars, our institutional workshops on Grieving Whiteness, the 5-week course Black Study as Creative Process at subject Dance, the publication of the creative writing workbook Writing FutureBrownSpaces with our 5 x 3hr workshops on how to develop kinder spaces for ourselves, the new Phd elective course in Philosophical Black Aesthetics for Spring 2025 and the first few chapters of our afro optimist spoken word novel. We look forward to rest, to work-within-rest, in peace, in tune, non-funded, on the fly, on the hustle, to the beat of black chill.

Flights depart from CirkusMania 2025 as we boldly and blackly withdraw into deep, luminous space for the last time. You are, and have always been, warmly welcome.

Love from FutureBrownSpace.
