SKH at Slakthusdagen – Dancing for kids and teens

On 18 May it is once again time for Slakthusdagen – a day when Slakthusområdet opens up and becomes full of activities. This year, SKH is participating with dance taster sessions for kids and teens!

Welcome to Slakthusdagen 18 May – a day when the facilities in the area are opened up and the area is filled with activity. The day offers everything from guided walks and workshops to performances, coffee, graffiti painting and meetings with the property developers in the area. Those who are interested, whether young or old, are welcome to take part in everything that Slakthusområdet has to offer, both now and in the future. At SKH, we are planning to move all our activities into a newly constructed shared building in Slakthusområdet in 2030, and we are of course already taking part in making ourselves visible in the area.

Slakthusdagen takes place in and around Förbindelsehallen on Stora Skorstensgatan, near Globen metro and tram. The City of Stockholm and the area's organisations welcome visitors to take part in the area's unique identity with food, culture and experiences in a historic environment.

SKH dance pedagogy presents dance for kids and teens

Are you curious about dancing and want to try new styles? Dance teacher Emma Eriksson, trained at the Stockholm University of the Arts, holds taster sessions for different ages throughout the day. No prior knowledge required! The sessions last about 40 minutes and are held in Swedish.

Emma Eriksson is a trained school teacher in dance. She graduated in 2019 and has since then worked as a dance teacher, especially in modern and contemporary dance.

In modern and contemporary dance, traditions and ingrained ideas are challenged while at the same time ideas and ways of dancing are drawn from all kinds of different genres. Students learn precise body control, improvisation, and self-expression using dance as a tool. What do you think dance can tell us? What do you want to say through dance?
