HEY THERE! WELCOME!

We are happy that you survived the looong winter and now you have come here to celebrate the spring with us. Have a drink and relax for a moment before the show starts.

We don’t know what will happen to us next, all we have is rumors and stories. But we do know that we are sisters, magpies, performers, aviators, the ones we were, the ones we want to become, the ones we miss, food that we ate, coffee that we drank and overall very time consuming constellations of dreams, desires and all kinds of clicks&clacks, and that soon we are entering the stage which is a place for the dreams come true. We are just trying to be A TEAM in a time where there is always someone who will be left without, someone who will get more and the sky is no longer safe, but - LET’S GO MAGGIES!- we are flying to the highest branch and once we get there we will sing and chatter our hearts out. Since we are magpies, known for our great hospitality, we really want YOU to be our guest. We will serve you huttu (which is a finnish word and means porridge) and you will get to see us living our best lives - what would be better than that?

SQUAWK!! wE WILL COME TO PICK YOU UP VERY SOON!!!!!

Yours,
The Maggies

“Not that the magpies care. In fact, I’ve noticed they’re happy to give me an earful when I come out to inspect their nest” ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
-Niki Wilson, Fitzhugh journal

“The myth of Magpies being responsible for songbird declines has sadly been popularised on social media, and is one which needs to be resisted.” ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Biography

I’m a Finnish dancer-choreographer living in Sweden and working in both of these countries. My background in dance lies in street and club dances, mostly in Breaking, but I’ve been merged into many different subcultures and contemporary practices as well, which all leek into my works.
My artistic methods can be described as multi-enthusiasm, polyrhythmic curiosity, multidisciplinary tinkering, do-it-yourself spirit and collective ways of creating. I aim to create works that have a sense of integrity, community, heartfulness and generosity. Besides dance I work with rap and spoken word with very DIY and feminist approaches to it.

My education in dance is Breaking One Style course at Åsa Folkhögskola, Riveria Outokumpu's education in contemporary dance and master's program in choreography at the Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH). Currently I’m a member of Vähäkämä dance-theater collective,  KOOKOOCEE breaking crew and P.R.P rap collective with whom I produce works from site-specific performances to street dance events and rap gigs in local pubs.
