Hendrik Quast 30% seminar
Placing my lived experience of a chronic illness at the center of a research project in the performing arts creates a complex field of tension between the exposure of vulnerability and the search for a versatile/cross-disciplinary vehicle for autofictional self-enactment. What my performative explorations in this PhD project have already revealed with certainty is this: feces matter.
This 30% seminar presents a set of autofictionalizing methods and ongoing documentation processes, including keeping a stool journal and developing color charts for inflamed stool. The seminar presents my initial insights into conducting research on, with and through chronically ill bodies and highlights the unexpected visceral findings that the aforementioned methods have brought to light. The seminar concludes with a general invitation to an open discussion on plans for future research on this topic.
