Four performances in one, followed by a workshop, by and with dance education students.

2024 dance pedagogy students at SKH embark on a collaborative creative journey as the co-authors of dance choreographies for today and the future, touring schools and presenting at SKH and in Stockholm Kulturnatten (Culture night).

With their chosen theme of party or attachment they produce 15 minutes of dances to be a part of an hour performance with accompanying educational workshops in their artistic vision, experience, and aesthetics.

You are so welcome to join watch and dance with us and to share what dance is and could be for our talented artists.

The performances are free, reservation is needed, and we ask that you bring food or drink to contribute to the party.

Much love and kindness,

Peter Mills, assistant professor of choreography, and artist

RÅKAS - Chapter 1

A party. Many meetings. What happens inside, outside, all around and everywhere? What is allowed and what traces do we leave behind? Who are we when we meet? Who do we want to be? Who do we become when things don’t turn out as expected? What do you feel is interesting when meeting another person?

Leo: To get the possibility to experience the world from another point of view, challenging each others perspectives and/or potentially find connections allowing marks to be left on one another. To share, learn and be curious.

My: Maybe it is not the meeting in and of itself, but what remained after the meeting. A feeling, a memory, a reflection.

Johanna: Meeting other people gives me joy, inspiration and new perspectives. I like how every day looks different depending on the people I meet and the feelings, thoughts and actions that’s being discovered in the interactions.

Lisa: The exciting experience of entering another person’s unique universe

Amanda: Meeting with other people for me is related to different feelings, no meetings are the same and that is what makes it so exciting. I love to get inspired and to be able to share knowledge with each other.

Sofia: The first impression. It is something that we often remember and like to talk about once we get to know each other.

Live life? - Chapter 2

Six individuals, endless balloons, mixed experiences give unknown possibilities. Uncomfortable meetings can generate comfortable togetherness when synchronizing comes secondary and community becomes central. What has been brought since before, how do we meet in the present and who becomes affected later? Welcome to party?

OSA - Chapter 4

In a way there was a party. Martina, Iró, Unni, Elvira, Henrik and Michelle have attached themselves to each other. Maybe it was the velcro, the folk dance or the thing in reverse? Anyway, one thing led to another. They followed paths, each other and the music. Someone had to be saved, someone went home. There was dancing. In a way there was a party.

Elviras preparation for the party is a routine. But on her way she meets others preparing for parties, they follow, hold on and hook. Everyone can come, but who are we going to?
Unni read on wikipedia and suddenly she felt the need to dance to the informative text. There was jumping, footwork and pirouettes to the description of annual city privileges. Isn't there a bit of a disco jazz feeling about the word minuet?

Iró wants to dance folk dance and gathers everyone to a summer party on a Greek island. The steps are not hard to learn when we dance together. She also needs to go crazy and climb up on her friends. Can we lift each other up when the party mood is going down?

Martina looks at pictures of Zorn's dancing youth and a disco craze from the 90s and dreams of joining the crowd. She gathers the gang in a small area and sees what happens when bodies, like hooks and hangers, are connected to dance together.

Henrik was thinking about attachments, both physical and emotional. To be connected to, bound by, stuck with or locked. How do the different attachments feel and what happens if or when they break?

Michelle likes to rewind dance. Everything she can do. She can do everything. Dance likes to rewind Michelle.
