Four folds of a practice
It’s the practice of the place, it’s the process of embodiment, it’s the performance of the self. Like a writer that writes private letters to her fellows or her loved ones, I, Yari, wish to nurture relationships within these unfoldings.
Sketch from in/curious dance
Fold one: the Lake, the Sword, Death, the Mother
“In our process, I feel there is a place that we visit together, a fictional forest, like walking into the set of the theatre but as if that theatre was also a kind of reality…” said Siriol. “Maybe we should stop here and play with the vocabulary of ballet pantomime and their familiar feelings?” interrupted Yari.
24th of April from 15:00 meeting at the cafeteria of Brinellvägen 58. Approx. 1 hour
Fold two: in/curious dance
We, Ella and Yari, will share a practice that moves through questions and writing. Amongst our inquiries, we ask: What does it mean to assist? How can we witness through doubt, and how can objects facilitate non-linear reflections? We welcome uncertainty and the repurposing of sensorial experiences that emerge out of repetitions and the urgent now.
25th of April from 15:00 meeting at the cafeteria of Brinellvägen 58. Approx. 1 hour
(only for NPP students and teachers or by invitation)
Fold three: watch as if dance doesn’t exist
A walking performance with me, Yari, and with my experience with Dance. Not every time I dance, I recognize it as such, sometimes it feels just meaningless movement. A bla bla bla monologue with the sense of loss. But other times Dance arises with the experience of everyday body implications. How does dance leak into those moments?
3rd of May from 15:00 meeting at the cafeteria of Brinellvägen 58. Approx. 45 minutes
(15 places, book them by contacting yari.stilo.01@student.uniarts.se)
Fold four: paintings by Bengt Elmén
Bengt Elmén is a painter with a sense of satire and self-irony. While painting, Bengt involves his personal assistants, some also artists, to create images that spread awareness on accessibility, independent living, and other disability issues. These paintings are selected by us, Bengt and Yari. They mostly point to the experience of an audience member in an inaccessible dance world.
From the 24th of April to the 7th of May, the paintings will be shown at SKH in the cafeteria of Brinnelvägen 58.
