A foot and two hands holding

the sleeping wave

an unseen tremble in heart

I think of this time we are living in now as one of great importance. I think of stories of resistance and the everyday. In my solo practice I have often held fragments of stories in what I do. Silently they have made their marks through my gaze and through tensions and flows in my body. At this moment of writing, speaking, and dancing, I don't know what form all this will take. Perhaps they will go nesting in gaze and in movements passing through.

In this public presentation Tove Skeidsvoll is dancing with some very small and also great things. Over these last years, playing within a felt sense of the ongoing climate crisis, with its longings for love and justice, this work is continuously gathered and stretched out, re-used, re-forgotten and re-assembled.

With her creating A place nearby is musician and composer Johannes Burström, who will be present on stage, and visual artist and scenographer Sofia Romberg.

Bio

This work is tuning in with and building on from Tove Skeidsvoll’s two years of the Master program New Performative Practices and her practice from being a dancer, choreographer and producer for 20 years. Her works embraces notions of scale, proximity and distance. Curiousness has led her into working within shifting contexts and roles, collective forms, with architects and designers, music artists and performances for very young audiences and a film practice as an actress and choreographer. The influence of architects and colleagues within dance, together with emphasizing geographic place and movement in small and big scale has led to different kinds of exchange – leading into thoughts of body, movement and being together across species and material.

Johannes Burström is a composer, bassist, sound designer and programmer, with a Master in electroacoustic composition from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm (2022), and a bachelor within improvised music from the Malmö Academy of Music (2006).

Johannes is using strings, speaker objects and algorithms to shape spaces with sound. His own works is orbiting around the relational aspects of a feedback bass, which he has explored in multichannel works as well as improvised solo settings such as albums Dyad (2020) and Timmer (2017) and the collaborative web radio station Nattradion.

Sofia Romberg is a scenographer and costume designer from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts, currently studying the five-year program at the Royal Academy of Fine Art. A common denominator is the interest in shapes and configurations that holds multiple perspectives, visualizing the friction between inner life and outer world. The materials are often traces left behind as opportunities for rearrangements and reconnections. Process and works are portals, where multiple times, narratives and places cross.
