Selection tests Bachelor Programme in Dance performance

The selection to the Bachelor Programme in Dance Performance is made by selection tests (auditions). The selection process is divided into three steps, described below. After each stage of the process there will be a decision on who will proceed to the next step. Everyone is informed of whether they will proceed or not. All three selection tests will be digital.

Audition from anywhere!

The 2024 admissions process for the Bachelor’s Programme in Dance at Stockholm University of the Arts will be entirely online.

If there are more eligible applicants than available places a selection will be made. The assessment of the applicants in the selection tests is made by an admissions group with expertise that reflects the current programme. The admissions group consists of dancers and choreographers from the field, and teachers working in the programme. A student representative will also participate in the admissions group but will not take part in the final assessment. The assessment is based on the applicants’ potential for development and capacity to handle the demands of the programme.

During three selection rounds (all digital), we will look at your ability to interpret, respond and embody different physical tasks and set movement material, your willingness to communicate and work together with others and finally your interest in investigating/researching in process-based dance learning. To be admitted, you do not need to fulfill all these criteria. We are interested in the potential you show to engage in this direction.

The selection of applicants will be carried out in several steps. After each step, a decision will be made regarding which applicants will proceed to the next step. Every applicant will receive notification of whether they have proceeded to the next part of the process or not.

The first step of the selection process (Selection test 1) will be based on the video that you send in with your application. The applicants that go on to the second selection process (Selection test 2) will be invited to an online live workshop/class 18–20 March. After Selection test 2, the admission group makes a selection of applicants that proceed to the last selection process (Selection test 3). Selection test 3 consists of an online live workshop/class and a short interview with members of the admissions group 21–22 March.

Time plan January–May 2024

  • Last day of application: 15 January.
  • Selection test 1: Takes place during January and will be based on the material (your video) that you submit with your application. No participation is necessary.

  • Selection test 3: Takes place 21–22 March. Online participation is necessary. You will find out by 20 March if you are to participate in this final selection test.

Criteria for assessment of applicants

The assessment of the applicants in the selection tests is made by an admission group with expertise that reflects the current education. The assessment is based on the joint experience and expertise and their ability to assess the applicants’ potential for development and capacity to handle the demands of the education. The assessment is made on a scale (1–5) where 1 is the lowest assessment and 5 the highest. The assessment relates to the aims for the different selection tests. The interview, however, will not be judged based on the following criteria.

The criteria for the different assessments are:

  1. The applicant does not demonstrate the requested ability or potential.
  2. The applicant to some extent demonstrates the requested ability or potential.
  3. The applicant demonstrates the requested ability or potential.
  4. The applicant demonstrates well the requested ability or potential.
  5. The applicant demonstrates very well the requested ability or potential.
