Admission process for the Master programme in Choreography

Admission process for the Master programme in Choreography

The admission process to the Master Programme in Choreography is divided in to two parts, described below. After each stage of the process there will be a decision on who will proceed to the next step. Everyone is informed of whether they will proceed or not. The entire process will be carried out digitally.

PART 1 – Assessment of entry requirements – Work samples

How: No participation of applicant needed

A selected part of the admission group will make a first assessment of the applicants based on the qualifications/documents/video clips sent in by the applicant. The admission group will evaluate the level of the applicant’s choreographic work, looking at artistic articulation, method of work, craftmanship and communicability of the work and previous experiences. Based on the applicant's written text, the admission group will evaluate the ability of articulating ideas, expressing thoughts and points of view in regards to an assigned topic.

Applicants who qualify from part 1 will be invited to Part 2 – selection process. The invitation and a preparatory task will be sent out on February 16.

PART 2 – Selection – Online process workshop and interview

How: Takes place via zoom, live participation is needed.
When: The workshop is planned for three active days and several days for preparation in between: February 26, 28 and March 4. Participation is only needed for 3–4 hours on each active day. The workshop is a process wherein candidates engage in feedback and response to feedback with peers, share their practices with each other in small groups and present their work. The interviews are planned for March 5 and March 6 and are 20 minutes long.

Through the workshop tasks the admission group will pay attention to an applicant’s ability to engage in a working process; the applicant’s ability to collaborate and communicate in a group situation (taking into account the limitations of virtual meetings) and the applicant's own work in terms of artistic articulation and method of work.

As the selection test will happen online, you will need to assure a functioning internet connection, an apparatus with a working camera and a space you feel comfortable working in.

After Part 2 the admission group will suggest which applicants are to be admitted and which applicants should be put on the waiting list. You will receive the result of this process on March 21. If you are a third country candidate and applying for the scholarship, you will not receive news about the scholarship before mid May. 2. The applicant to some extent demonstrates the requested ability.
  3. The applicant demonstrates the requested ability.
  4. The applicant demonstrates well the requested ability.
