Targeted study support
Who can apply for support?
The Discrimination Act uses the term disability and since this text refers to your rights as a student under the Discrimination Act, we will use the term in this text.
If you are a student at Stockholm University of the Arts and have one or more disabilities that affect your studies, you are welcome to apply for targeted study support. The disability must be permanent for you to be entitled to this support.
This could for example be:
- reading and writing difficulties/dyslexia,
- mental health problems,
- neuropsychiatric disabilities,
- hearing loss,
- visual impairment
- mobility impairment
- or chronic diseases.
You must be able to show a certificate of your disability.
If you have a reading impairment and need access to speech synthesis and audio books, you can contact the library directly to get access to these tools. You can find more information about reading impairment and the support available to you here.
Temporary injury
If you have a temporary injury or illness, you are not entitled to this support as it is not permanent. If you need temporary support, you should instead contact the programme- or course coordinator at your subject unit.
It is important that you prepare well in time to enable the process of finding the right support and adaptations start as soon as you have been admitted.
How to apply
Once you have been admitted, you can apply for support via Nais (National Administration and Information System). To apply you log into Nais via the link below and fill out your application in an online form. In the application, you must upload a certificate confirming a permanent disability and describe your study situation.
- You apply for support via NAIS, remember to have certificates ready to upload before you start.
- Once you have applied via NAIS, the coordinator will contact you for a conversation about your specific circumstances.
- During the conversation, you will decide how to plan any support and follow-ups.
- After the conversation with the coordinator, a decision or recommendation is created in NAIS by the coordinator.
- You can then print the decision/recommendation or show it on your digital device to the course coordinator to see what support is possible based on the learning objectives in the specific course.
Apply for pedagogical support here on the NAIS website.
You are always welcome to make an appointment with the coordinator if you have questions about the application. Contact pedagogisktstod@uniarts.se.
We recommend that you show the decision and/or recommendation to the course- or programme coordinator.
If you already have a decision and/or recommendation, you are always welcome to make an appointment with the coordinator for a follow up or adjustment of the targeted study support.
