Work and career

SKH has extensive contacts with working life, both nationally and internationally, through both regular teachers and guest teachers as well as various networks, organisations and others.

As a student, you also meet the future labor market and the future audience through, for example, presentations, performances, festivals, screenings on SVT and various media platforms.

The working life that SKH's education programs train for varies depending on the field in question. Some professional groups are their own entrepreneurs or freelancers, but may also be employed. For other professional groups, employment is the primary option. For SKH's PhD students, it is most common to work in the professional art field or in artistic education and artistic research after the dissertation. Many of the programs lead to an international labor market.

Circus

The program initiates innovative processes to work with method and own forms of expression. Our former students have pushed the boundaries of where and how circus can be presented. They are employed in international companies, create their own groups, are freelancers, participate in festivals and events, and have the world as their field of work.

Dance

Dance and choreography are expansive fields that operate in an international context. The powerful development of the arts means that the conditions for a professional dance artist are constantly changing. To meet these challenges, we want to strengthen the students' environmental analysis, independence and artistic awareness.
Our goal in dance pedagogy is to educate creative educators who are equipped to face an ever-changing professional life and who can drive the field of dance and dance education forward. Many former students work directly in various dance education activities or have created artistic collectives and companies that work with dance both scenically and pedagogically, in various contexts.

Opera

As a trained opera singer, you can apply to opera institutions and concert life internationally. You have acquired a good ability to work at an international level with directors and conductors in musical and scenic performance in opera houses, in concert life or in independent groups. You have received instruction in entrepreneurship, mental training and audition training, to give you good tools for professional life.

Theatre

After completing your training as an actor or mime actor, you will have the knowledge and ability to work within an ensemble or on your own and be able to move freely between different genres, media and types of productions. Our former students have started independent groups, become writers and theatre directors. They work in classroom theatre, Hollywood productions, puppetry and television. We see them in theatres across the country, some working mostly in radio or on stages abroad. Some are teaching the next generation. Our former students of the performing arts programmes work in various performing arts organisations such as theatres, opera houses, dance institutions, event companies, concert halls, independent groups and in their own projects where they have pushed the boundaries of where and how performing arts can be presented. A bachelor's degree also allows you to continue studying at a higher level, such as a master's program.
